FRANCE WITH LOVE

4th June 2021

WITH GUESTS FROM ALL OVER THE GLOBE SARAH AND HAITHAM CREATED A MAGICAL FRENCH WEDDING WEEKEND
Sarah and Haitham got married last June at the beautiful Château de la Canière, which is a stunning Chateau in Thuret, France. It was the most beautiful wedding and even the rain didn’t dampen the day!
Bridal prep
Sarah and Haitham got ready in separate rooms at the Château with there awesome bridal parties, and the atmosphere was full of excitement. They then made their way down the winding staircase together to get to the ceremony.
Sarah wore two dresses, the first was an Allure lace fitted dress with button back and off the shoulder cap sleeves. The second dress Sarah put on for the first dance and evening of dancing. It was a fitted satin dress with diamond details and low cowl neck style back and Haitham wore a bespoke made petrol blue suit and they looked so dapper. Sarah’s shoes were SJP in an Emerald green in tribute to her Irish roots. Sarah also positioned a family vintage brooch onto her bouquet. and Haitham’s buttonhole was a simple peach rose positioned next to a thistle. Haitham accessorised his stylish look with a silver pin and a collar chain to compliment his bowtie.
The vows
The ceremony was an intimate service in one of the stunning reception room. Sarah and Haitham had planned an outdoor ceremony in the woodland behind the Chateau but the weather had other plans and wind and rain made them have to bring the ceremony indoors. It was emotional at first for them both but with the stunning architecture and floral display, the setting couldn’t be more stunning. During the ceremony, they read their own vows. It was such a personal service and so beautifully led by celebrant Piers. My favourite section of Sarah’s vows where ‘I vow never to Netflix cheat on you’, my husband and I have the same promise if we are watching a series together. It can be really tough sometimes! 😉
After the ceremony
The reception was in the ballroom at the venue. They chose Château de la Canière because they could have the place for the whole weekend and they just fell in love with it. It was a beautiful wedding, which included lots of champagne, confetti, friends and family. As well as a packed dance floor until the early hours. I love shooting destination weddings because the surroundings are just incredible. The sun came out shortly after the ceremony and allow there was some wind this allowed for a fabulous confetti tunnel and some family group photographs on the steps of the Chateau.
They had drinks and canapes in the afternoon, and live music in the evening. They decorated the venue with flowers and candles, because they wanted to keep it simple. As soon as I arrived at the Château de la Canière it felt like a warm, safe place. The surrounding fields were just breathtaking.
For dinner, they served 4 courses of exquisite French cuisine, which was loved by all the guests. The first dance involved the wedding party getting on the dancefloor to get the dancing going, and they finished off the evening with an open bar and unlimited Champagne. The band played the most amazing set of medleys which kept the guests on the dance floor until the early hours.
The most memorable part of the day was the vows that they had written themselves because it was so romantic and personal. They also had oysters during the reception drinks – it was the first time I’ve seen that at a wedding! During the day I got to work with a wonderful second shooter, thanks Jess for your help with capturing the day. Not only that I met and worked alongside the epic Ash and Kitty from To have and to hold Films. They are the most amazing pair and I’d 100% recommend them to anyone wishing to capture a wedding film.
Sarah and Haitham’s wedding was everything I love about weddings and just the happiest occasion. Here’s their awesome wedding!
If you’re planning a destination wedding in France or anywhere else in the world, I’d love to hear from you!
